10 SUPER HEALTHY DRINKS DURING PREGNANCY

         

For an expectant mother, it is very important to stay hydrated during pregnancy. Because what she consumes have direct impact on the baby health. Drinking healthy drinks gives you nutrition as well as keep you hydrated. So if you have started your beautiful journey to motherhood, you have to pay utmost attention to your diet. So here are some of the super healthy drinks that are beneficial to you as well as for your baby.

  • Coconut water
  • Green gram (Moong) soup
  • Fresh fruit juices
  • Vegetables soup
  • Butter milk / Lassi
  • Milk
  • Lemon water
  • Homemade drinks
  • Jaggery water
  • Water

1       Coconut water :-

Coconut water is most natural healthy drink for consumption during pregnancy. The essential salts that are present in coconut water that is useful for growth and development of your baby. Coconut water prevents dehydration, constipation and acidity. It is very healthy to drink when you are thirsty in pregnancy.

2       Green gram (Moong) soup :-

Moong beans are high in iron, potassium, protein and fiber which are essential during pregnancy. Green gram soup is also very healthy during pregnancy and specially for the one who has lost their test, don’t find the food tasty. It helps the pregnant women who are suffering from gestational diabetes and pre eclampsia.

3       Fresh fruits juices :-

Fresh fruits juices are very beneficial to keep your body hydrated and get nutrients, Fresh fruits juices from oranges, watermelons, pomegranate and sweet lime are great for hot weather and other juices like apple juices strawberry juices and guava juices are great for a pregnant lady. Use always home made fresh fruits juices.

4       Vegetables soup:-

You need vegetables for a balanced pregnancy diet. Vegetables soup are a storehouse of antioxidants and easy to digest also. Vegetables soup like tomato soup, broccoli soup, carrot and beetroot soup, spinach soup etc. are the best sources of all the nutrients which is required to maintain healthy diet. So these vegetables soup are highly beneficial to you and to your baby.

5       Butter milk :-

Butter milk is also known as “Chas” In our guajarati language. Butter milk is more beneficial in summer because it is protects us from heat. It is richest source of vitamin B12.We can drink buttermilk in many ways like sweet, salty, spicy or with mix of all. It helps in curing constipation and also smoothen the digestive system. Buttermilk is very refreshing drink specially for summer.

6       Milk:-

Milk

Milk is considered to be complete food. Milk contains proteins, calcium, vitamins, and sugar, milk is capable of nourishing both body as well as mind. It helps to calm your mind. So one who are suffering from mood swings, feeling low, depressed and sleepless then you should definitely add milk in your diet.

7       Lemon water:-

Lemon water is all time favorite drink in every home specially in summer in india. Lemon is richest source of vitamin c which help to increase the iron absorption and maintain your Hb levels. Lemon water is great immunity booster. Add pinch of salt and sugar in lemon water to make it tastier, which helps in combats dehydration.

8       Homemade drinks:-

There are variety of homemade drinks you can drink during pregnancy, specially in summer. Aamla sarbat (Indian gooseberry), Aam panna (raw mango) sarbat, Jal jeera sarbat, Gulkand sarbat etc. are best for you in hot weather.

9       Jaggery water:-

Make jaggery water by adding jaggery into water but remember that use the jaggery which is dark brownish color. Don’t use yellow color jaggery .You can all add pinch of salt in this water. It helps in reducing acidity and flush out the toxins. It is also rich source of folic acid and vitamin B complex.

10     Water:-

Last but not the least i.e. water. Each cell, tissue and organ of our body needs water to function properly. Body temperature is maintain with the help of water. So water is the medium which allows the nutrients to absorb and carry it to your baby.

So above drinks are super healthy for you during your pregnancy. I used to drink these drinks according to my schedule and as per season. So enjoy healthy pregnancy.

Good post Megha, very helpful for new moms. I used to drink coconut water regularly during my pregnancy many years ago 🙂
